ALOPECIA X - BLACK SKIN DESEASE

1.- How Recovery Mask arises & our experience with Alopecia X in the Pomeranian.

RECOVERY MASK our greatest pride.

We have been working for years on our most important project, dedicating many hours of work, a lot of dedication and most importantly a lot of love for our Pomeranian breed.

I suffered alopecia X in first person. It was with my love D'amore Silva Prince Elvis...

*CH. D'amore Silva Prince Elvis

Elvis has been and will be the dog I have loved the most. All my dogs are special, but he is my spoiled boy.

We shared trips, early mornings, and many exhibitions... He participated in 30 beauty contests around the world, and won 29 of them, his career was brilliant. One of his most important and beautiful achievements was the World Championship in Denmark in 2010 where he was proclaimed BEST PUPPY OF THE WORLD with 22.000 dogs registered.

*Elvis and Silvia at the World Cup in Denmark 2010, winning the victory.

My hair still stands on end, remembering that moment when Prince Elvis' name was announced as the winner over the loudspeaker, and when the photographers' flashes almost left us "blind" in the red carpet style of the Oscars. To immortalize the moment for magazines around the world. It was magical and our connection even more so.

In this exhibition a friend told me that I think Elvis could go bald... From that moment on I knew that I would do everything in my power, but I would never medicate him if he suffered from Alopecia X. I would use whatever I thought was best for his hair. Well, I used what I thought was best for him on his hair, I even took him to a beach where they said the water healed his skin... I blamed myself because I didn't think I was doing enough. And I just didn't have the knowledge I have now to treat him.

*Elvis on a beach in Portugal where it was said that the water improved skin problems.

At show number 30, in Birmingham England, one of the biggest shows in the world. Elvis was starting to show his lack of hair, I was offered to medicate him a month before the show, but I was sure, when Elvis will be bald, he would not step in the ring but he would still be my spoiled boy. And I would never put him at risk for aesthetic reasons. Those types of drugs can affect the liver.

That was his last show, which we didn't win, but which we enjoyed just the same because he and I ate up the track and enjoyed it to the fullest, win and no win.

*Elvis and Silvia at Crufts 2011

And then from that moment on I have not stopped looking for a solution to this problem for a single day. Years have passed since then. And my goal is and will be to help Pomeranian owners who find themselves lost and frustrated as I once felt.

With the opening of my cosmetic salon Pets & Poms, I was faced with the reality, how many thousands of Pomeranians suffer from this disease in the world? That made me turn to each case as if they were Elvis, and try to give them back their lost beauty.

The first Pomeranian I had success with was Elvis, he was bald for many years, even after neutering which did not work for him.

*Pictures of the recovery process of Elvis with Recovery mask

I started a treatment that I was polishing according to the needs of Elvis's coat, treating many Pomeranias with this problem helped me a lot to diagnose and find what his skin needed.

And the day came when his hair started to grow, and if it worked for Elvis why wouldn't it work for others?

From here I want to thank all our clients who have trusted us with their eyes closed. They made an effort bringing their dogs weekly, some of them having to travel many kilometers, and spending one afternoon a week, not knowing if what we told them was going to work for their dog. And we succeeded!

In 95% of the Pomeranias we treated weekly, the treatment worked. And we restored the beauty of their Pomeranias.

Today it is the part I like the most in hairdressing, it is a personal challenge. I start every treatment with the same illusion of helping desperate owners and a Pomeranian who has lost his identity, his precious coat.

Our treatment is based on a spa treatment with ozone therapy, which we highly recommend. We do it in combination with our RECOVERY MASK.

We have also worked from a distance, because this is a worldwide problem. We have clients from all over the world who have used our mask and have had very good results.

This has proven to be effective, and has also had positive results with the use of the mask alone. This makes it an affordable, do-it-yourself treatment at home.

The greatest reward for these years dedicated to Alopecia X, is undoubtedly each successful treatment, or a photo to the email of clients from other countries who bet on us and succeeded! Your Pomeranian has regained his coat.

However, we must not forget that it is a disease whose cause is still unknown.

Although dermo-cosmetics help a lot, it can also happen that some Pomeranias do not manage to recover their coat.

With this mask we do not pretend to guarantee that all Pomeranians will regain their hair. We do not want to disappoint anyone if your Pomeranian does not work. Because as we mentioned in the next point, other factors such as food, state of the immune system, genetic factors... also influence...

We just want to put in your hands what has worked for us in a very high percentage of cases, and I tell you that it is worth a try. For me Recovery mask is a before and after in my work. With which I have helped many Pomeranians. I leave you a sample of before and after photos with real dogs of our treatments. Both in Pomeranias already without hair, as they recover it and with very cottony Pomeranias with severely dehydrated and damaged coat, not less important. Because as I said before, prevention is better than cure.

CASES OF ALOPECIA TREATED WITH RECOVERY MASK IN OUR PETS & POMS GROOMING SALON:

As you can see it is worth a try, it is a non-invasive treatment. It will always improve your previous state.

2.- About Alopecia in Pomeranians

Alopecia X in the Pomeranian or BSD (Pomeranian Black Skin Disease) is a skin disease that affects the Nordic breeds, among the most affected is the Pomeranian breed.

*Adult Pomeranian affected with alopecia X

It is called alopecia X because the origin of the disease is unknown, hence the X. Also called black skin disease (black skin disease) when the disease is accompanied by hyperpigmentation of the skin.

* Pomeranian affected with alopecia and hyperpigmentation of the skin

It is a total or partial hair loss in Pomeranians or Nordic dogs, with or without skin pigmentation. Follicular atrophy.

It affects males more than females.

And it is more usual that alopecia begins in Pomeranians of one and a half or two years old although it can appear at any age.

There are factors that can trigger the disease such as a lowering of defenses or a bad haircut.

3.- How to detect Alopecia in the Pomeranian

From puppies onwards, we can start to see signs that indicate that there may be a possible alopecia X in the Pomeranian in the future, and it is very important to pay attention to these signs in order to act as soon as possible.

* 5 months old puppy very cottony, first warning signs

We take approximately as a starting date Pomeranian puppies from 5 months old, which is when they should start molting in the Pomeranian.

Very cottony Pomeranians are more prone, if at the time of the moulting we see that our Pomeranian does not start to moult normally, and instead the hair is more and more woolly, and with a grayish or black color (in the case of orange Pomeranian) in its root, which has less and less color. It can be a symptom that the change of hair in the Pomeranian is not going well, and I say can. Because it can also begin the change a month or two later and then suddenly moult. Do not panic, but be forewarned and prepared, prevention is better than cure. And in the alopecia x of Pomeranians this often saves us a lot of trouble.

*Pomeranian puppyvery cottony

But what about the adult Pomeranian? In these cases there are also signs that help us to detect it quickly and put solutions.

A very clear symptom is when the Pomeranian's hair stops growing normally on the ears and paws. The Pomeranian's hair should always grow from one grooming session to the next.

Another symptom is when the hair around the tail begins to darken.

* We observe in this photo the grayish color around the tail. Very characteristic prior to the disease.

Also when after a haircut the rest of the body hair does not grow normally. And the wool gets tighter and tighter and becomes very short. As in puppies, an extreme dryness in the hair indicates that there are problems, and we may be facing a possible alopecia X or BSD.

*Photo 1 Pomeranian hair extremely dry, and very tight at the root and Photo 2 after with our Pom Recovery treatment.

Of course another sign is when bald patches appear, usually on the hind legs in the genital or tail area, but it could also be in other areas.

Brown or dark mole-like spots on the skin. All of these are symptoms that tell us that the disease may be coming or that you already have it.

4.- How to prevent Alopecia X in the Pomeranian or BSD (Black Skin Disiase)

When we have a Pomeranian puppy the important thing is to be alert. And I say alert, not scared or anxious. This is a very nice stage that you should enjoy. But keeping alert can help you in the future.

If we have a Pomeranian puppy, which as we have seen in the previous point has not started the moulting normally, its coat is very cottony and dry, we must not let this go further. Remember that a well hydrated coat leads to a healthy skin and a beautiful and shiny coat.

Since we see these signs or signals that indicate possible alopecia x in the Pomeranian, we totally change its skin and coat care.

First of all we will be very careful to keep the Pomeranian's coat hydrated and for this we will use a shampoo for hydrating Pomeranian as INTENSIVE REPAIR together with a mask for Pomeranian very hydrating and repairing as RECOVERY MASK that we will use together with the ELIXIR OILS to enhance the treatment.

*Pomeranian with extreme dryness before treatment.

*Result after Recovery mask and Pomeranian beauty elixir treatment.

With weekly bathing sessions if necessary, his hair will tell us how often we should give baths, do not let the hair is dehydrated as if it were a scouring pad. If the hair is hydrated for 3 weeks, this will be the frequency of the baths, but if not, we will do it every two weeks or even every week if the dehydration is very severe. Remember that our goal is to keep the Pomeranian's coat hydrated so that it does not break, hair that does not break hardly comes out again in this type of problems. That is to say, we will take care of his coat as the most precious good.

We will brush every day with a very moisturizing spray like INTENSIVE REPAIR CONDITIONING SPRAY FOR POMERANIA. To maintain the hydration of the Pomeranian's coat between baths.

Prevention before the disease develops is one of the most effective measures against Alopecia X in the Pomeranian.

5.- How Recovery Mask can help me against Alopecia in Pomeranians

RECOVERY MASK is a mask whose main function is:

Repair a damaged and severely dehydrated coat with highly moisturizing, regenerating and hair growth enhancing ingredients.

It works by moisturizing the hair in depth so that it does not break, it is necessary to take care of the hair to the maximum. It is very likely that the hair will break and will not grow back, so a good hydration will prevent this.

It is a stimulator of hair growth, giving strength to the hair so that it has the strength to break out. A very weakened hair is impossible to come out again, it is necessary to work from the inside to strengthen the hair for a healthy growth.

RECOVERY MASK helps both in the prevention of Alopecia X and in dogs that have already developed the disease.

We have obtained very satisfactory results both in the prevention and in pomeranias with a developed Alopecia X.

In puppies that do not begin to molt naturally, RECOVERY MASK helps in the change of hair, strengthening the new hair to begin to be born with strength. Maintaining a moisturized skin. Early action is the best treatment.

In adult dogs with cottony hair with severe dehydration, restoring hydration from its first use, thus preventing hair breakage and also promoting hair growth, reinforcing each follicle.

In these cases the results of RECOVERY MASK are spectacular, see for yourself before and after. You won't be able to live without it.

*Photo before treatment, showing the severe dryness of the hair.

* Photo after the Pomeranian beauty Recovery Mask treatment, the hair is completely hydrated.

A SPECTACULAR CHANGE!

In Pomeranias that already present the disease with bald patches, it works as a strengthener and growth stimulator, moisturizing the skin and working from the inside for the recovery of the coat.

6.- Hairdressing, Pomeranian haircuts and Alopecia X or BSD Can it affect?

As a canine groomer and expert in canine dermocosmetics. My answer is YES, a haircut can develop the disease.

The famous BOO cut of the famous Pomeranian Boo (To whom we remember with love and thank him for his beautiful and nice pictures that have made even more known our precious Pomeranian breed. But not his haircut that can do so much harm).

results, but it is almost always a hair that we will have to take care of for the rest of our lives.

So, if you love that look or that haircut, and you haven't done it to your Pomeranian yet, please don't do your Pomeranian a disservice, they are beautiful with their natural coat, but they also need it.

*Consequences of a boo haircut. Pomeranian affected by Alopecia X after a boo haircut. @angeliq.1

It is the groomer's duty to know and know the problems of the breed, at least those that affect the health of their skin. And it is the groomer's duty to inform all owners of the fatal consequences of this haircut.

To all the hairdressers reading this, refusing to perform such a cut makes you great as a professional. It gives you credibility and confidence with your clients. Far from losing money, you will be gaining clients for life, and you will only lose a small percentage that does not understand the reasons. In return you will gain the loyalty of your customers.

But it is also the duty of the owner, to understand that the health of the Pomeranian is more important than a momentary whim, because sometimes his appearance of teddy bear lasts only a moment of his life, and then he becomes bald. And that is sad.

If you have made it this far, and you have read this and have been convinced not to do this type of cut, my time was worth it. We are one step closer to beating Alopecia x disease in the Pomeranian.

So you can not cut the hair of the Pomeranian? Yes, but always trying that it is a specialist in the breed, or at least with knowledge. Emphasize a lot when you go to the hairdresser that you do not want them to use a machine, that you do not want an excessive cut. Because sometimes it is not a whim of the owner, but the groomer without asking makes a bad cut.

The Permitted Cut or the Perfect Pomeranian Haircut. It is the one made always with scissors and only the ends, without rushing. Important only the ends. That is the second question when I say, that we do not make the Boo cut, and they tell me well then hurry it as much as you can, this would also damage the hair, in a slower way. But the damage almost always comes. Sorry for the insistence, but prevention is better than cure.

Then cut with scissors and just a little bit to round and give a neat and rounded look that gives that precious look to our Pomeranian. In addition, leaving scissors rest between grooming session and grooming session, is also to help the natural growth of the Pomeranian's hair. Of course if we go once a year to the hairdresser there is no problem we can cut every time we go. But if we go every month or two months to make a cut if one does not. And in the middle one only bathing and drying with brushing, I assure you that he will have a spectacular mane.

*Natural haircut that enhances the beauty of the breed.

7.- Other important tips to avoid Alopecia x in Pomeranians

We would like to give you some recommendations that can help your Pomeranians to have a stronger immune system. To avoid or fight with the disease.

First of all, food, which is also a topic that we get asked about a lot.

We feed and recommend for pomeranians a natural diet based on raw meat. Barf diet type, of which you can find a lot of information on the internet. But there are also many pages where they sell this food already prepared without having to prepare it ourselves, nor to know percentages or quantities. This is the option that we recommend if you are a beginner in the natural diet.

The feed is much more comfortable, but it contains many carbohydrates that are harmful, feeding with sugars to the fungus that affects the skin of the Pomeranian. In addition to load the immune system.

Temporarily we can help our Pomeranian with an intestinal probiotic, which will help a lot to avoid the proliferation of fungi and bacteria. And also we will reinforce the immune system.
